Usual suggestion is to check you used the same email address as other projects. Everything keys from that.

However I have zero knowledge about Gridcoin and the way it attaches to projects.

Is there any relevant reason why only some users have a medal for their work done in Signature for BOINC users? I have calculated about 19 M credits in project DHEP - on account - they are

No, the badges are being exported for you and others. Free-dc shows the badges for you.

The problem looks to be at https://signature.statseb.fr
I don't use the signatures and do not know why some users have badges showing there and others do not .

When or how often are the Badges Updated?

The badge script is meant to be running once a day at the moment but isn't.
I had suggested once an hour but Michael is monitoring the server for latency issues mentioned elsewhere on the forum and wants to start off slowly. Hopefully the frequency can be increased.

For the moment I have run the script manually to grant you your outstanding badge.
I will email Michael to get it going regularly as I don't have permission to do that.

Thanks for alerting us to the problem.

Are there cut off dates for joining the Project for Alpha and Beta status ?

And what qualifies a user for the TEAM badge ?

Thanks
Bill F

Hi Bill,

Yes, there are cut off dates to determine those who contributed during the Alpha/Beta status of the project.

Anyone in the Boinc database before 27th June 2018 will be Alpha & Beta badge holders
Anyone registered from 27th June to midnight 25th July is Beta only
Anyone registered from 26th July has neither badge
The only other proviso was that their credit level was above 0.

The DHE Team badge is awarded to project staff including volunteers who have put extra effort in to help the project as determined by the Admin.

Regards,
PDW

They are being exported in the stats files but I guess Bok needs to grab the image files for them to be displayed at Free-DC.

I ran the RAC script manually last night and again this morning, there are some permission problems that are stopping the scripts running automatically as they would normally as well as preventing other default Boinc behaviour.

I could run the credit badge script manually too but I expect complaints would start to be posted by volunteers asking why they haven't been given their most recent badge if the script is still not being run automatically on a regular basis.

Michael's time is taken up with constantly having to monitor and check, change and re-adjust the core code that is running 24/7. It's not quite the same as having 100Gb of data to process running a standard app and wait for all the results to come back in whilst monitoring the scheduler/feeder/backups/db purging/etc to make sure the system is ticking over as it should. He is getting help from someone developing a GPU app which also requires his input. A GPU app sounds great and will get a lot more work done but someone is going to have monitor and check all that as well !

I have limited access, rightly so, my linux skills are not good and I don't know that I trust myself not to mess things up if I had more access. This morning I typed LS into my console not realising CAPS LOCK was on and got this response:

The program 'LS' is currently not installed. To run 'LS' please ask your administrator to install the package 'sl'

I have no idea what 'sl' is or why typing LS would be the command for running the sl package !

Part of the initial delay in getting the badges done was that I didn't feel comfortable with limited linux skills writing PHP scripts for the first time on the production server. It wasn't until just before Christmas that I set up my own project server at home to play with to work on the badges. I had some permission issues then myself, I think it was either scheduling or sending the work out, but to get it working I could just grant full access safe in the knowledge it was all behind closed doors and not a production server.

PHP was something else. I'd never heard of a FOREACH command, I thought it was just a lazy way of doing a FOR loop without having to specify steps of 1. What a naive simpleton I was, this link gives a more 'detailed' explanation: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10057671/how-does-php-foreach-actually-work.

I still need to resolve the Active/Islands badges but Michael has put something in place that should let me do that.

I have been doing the scripts but Michael, who is busy, has control over when they are run.
The Alpha/Beta badges are already being shown at Free-DC so not aware Michael needs to be doing anything extra for that.

Looking at my accounts page for the first time in a while, and low and behold, there was this attractive badge! More coming (you know, based on credits attained kind)?

Congratulations, you're the first to comment on badges appearing !
The Alpha/Beta badges were activated over two weeks ago.
Running the script for the Alpha/Beta badges is a one time thing.

The script for credit (and RAC) badges have been ready for quite a while but it needs Michael to find time to set them running.
The Islands / Days Active badge allocation has a problem to overcome and is still under consideration.

Ok in /bin there is no java directory, so that's obviously the problem.

The device is running Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS (GNU/Linux 4.4.132-1075-rockchip-ayufan-ga83beded8524
aarch64).

For clarity, on my Ubuntu system the structure is [slot-directory]/jre-1.8.0/bin with a java executable in the bin directory.

MORE BIG BADGE NEWS !

Here are the Knack badges, these are awarded for the number of times the ‘best of all’ islands originated with a particular user. These have been designed by DoctorNow and are another set of great badges that those fortunate to have the Knack can attain.

User/Team badges awarded for finding at least this many ‘best of all’ islands:

Yes, they are different to the style of Simone’s badges but we don’t see that as a problem.

Once again, congratulations to DoctorNow on his design, we like them and hope you do too.

There does seem to be a problem with the display size of the badges in the forum, Simone's are slightly larger than DoctorNow's but DoctorNow's are the recommended size according to BOINC. We will work on it !

Hello, my apologies for the delay in announcing the results of the badge design competition.

BIG NEWS - WE HAVE BIG BADGES !

Here is a list of the badges for the DHE project that have been created by Simone and I think you will agree he has done a great job. Thanks Simone.

Any user who participated in the alpha stage of the project:

Any user who participated in the beta stage of the project:

User/Team credit badges awarded for at least this many credits:

These are the RAC based badges for users/teams, showing those in the top 1%, 5% and 25% bands:

These badges represent the number of days active on the project:

For being active for at least 10 days...
For being active for at least 50 days...
For being active for at least 100 days...
For being active for at least 250 days...
For being active for at least 500 days...
For being active for at least 1,000 days...

The DHE Team badge is awarded to project staff including volunteers who have put extra effort in to help the project as determined by the Admin:

There are more badges to come but for now we need to work on getting these assigned correctly as well as reducing them to a more normal size !

Once again, congratulations to Simone on his designs, we like them and hope you do too.

Does that position come with an expense account and a car?

Private jet, yatch, unlimited booze, etc. etc.

Don't be fooled, he wouldn't pay for heated seats and tinted windows in the car let alone getting the yatch fitted with a heli-deck and helicopter to go back and forth to the jet !

You last received credit on the 4th September. I would guess that the tasks weren't using any CPU after the last time the server needed kicking which I think was either 5th or 6th September so stopping other projects running but not actually wasting as much electricity as you think.

Michael posted in the 'kick the server' thread here https://www.dhep.ga/boinc/forum_thread.php?id=55&postid=404#404 about hopefully having resolved the recent spate of 'server hangs' that might have been the cause of this.

I can't see your computer so I can't see how many tasks you might be trying to run but are the tasks using CPU time ?

Your name does not appear on the island map here: https://www.dhep.ga/statstopology.php
If you check that page over a period of about an hour and your name does not appear, or appears less times than the number of tasks you have running, then one or more of your tasks/computers is having a problem.

What OS are they running on ?

Hi,

I didn't see the post appear that you now say is missing, I could make wild guesses to its whereabouts but there is no point in that.

To answer your question about why there are a large number awaiting validation on the server status page I will once again point you here https://www.dhep.ga/boinc/forum_thread.php?id=31

Specifically this:
o Workunits are placeholder dummies of non-defined duration with no required validation.

I believe that were they to go to the next stage and be removed from the waiting validation queue the workunits will be deleted from user accounts. Although they hold no data the logging they contain may be of interest in debugging any problems, besides users aren't happy to find their work has just disappeared.

The forum post I have linked to explains how DHEP works.

Unlike most, if not all other boinc projects there is no obvious sign of trouble when the project server stops responding and crunching just stops.

If you check this page you can see the islands have all gone and no users are listed...
https://www.dhep.ga/statstopology.php

When islands and users start appearing you will know it is working again.
Michael may be away at the moment, I know he had some travel plans recently.

Okay, thanks, I had checked the Window boxes earlier looking for small or large stderr log files but came up blank.

Turns out it was hiding on the TR box, it showed progress like the others but had used less than 2 minutes CPU in the 29+ hours it had been running, task aborted and a new one started and connected okay.

Pete now has 32 of them (out of 463) and Nicola has one of them (out of 1).

Edit: Nicola has now gone from the list.

Post:
Hi everyone, i had 18:58 hrs done on a WU and had to shut down the computer, lost all the time as the WU restarted from 00:00 hrs.

You have to add check points to the WU about every hour in the very least as i don't want to loose that amount of time and electricity.

Please let me know when this modification (or improvement) gas been implemented so i can get back to crunching.

Kind regards,
Gentilli.
