In about twenty minutes the following, as all mentioned previously will happen:

    o www.dhep.ga (and dhep.ga) will be moved to a University server: 139.184.49.229 .
o A one-off credit adjustment will be made to those near the top of the participant list. This is due to abnormally high rates awarded by BOINC near the start and will be made in order that those positions are reachable with the new credit system. The resulting total credits will still be very generous for everyone compared to the new system and this is to reward all of you for hanging in there during alpha and beta phases. No further such adjustments will be made from ther eon. There will also be badges for you lot.
o Any credit collected under the new system since the 2.03 app was released will be tripled as a one-off event.

Once the DNS entry is changed your clients will keep collecting credit without any changes required from you. However in order to get a new task, project update, etc.. You will need to make sure that your PC is resolving www.dhep.ga correctly and most likely a restart of BOINC Manager (or the whole system) might be in order.

I've restarted one of my hosts 3 times over the past hour and cannot reach the new server via BOINC Manager. Only by typing the university IP address into the search bar was I able to reach these forums. What next?

Hi Skivelitis,

https://www.dnsqueries.com/en/dns_lookup.php reported the change almost instantly over an hour ago.

What happens if you type "ping www.dhep.ga" at your console?

These might be of use: https://www.whatsmydns.net/flush-dns.html

Boinc is not connecting plus it took me multiple tries just to load this page.

Pinging dhep.ga [139.184.49.229] with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 139.184.49.229:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

That's perfect. Most hosts are setup to not respond to pings these days. Important thing is your PC is resolving the URL correctly.

So I take it browsing www.dhep.ga now works fine, so does www.dhep.ga/boinc and your BOINC Manager speaks to the scheduler fine?.

Ah that's better. I wish the trickle up message would tell you if it succeeded or not, just as the update does. It says it been sent but it would be nice if it said it was received as well. Perhaps i'm just being picky?

There seems to be an awful lot of trickle's. Has the amount per hour changed?

Maybe clogged up?..

Old workunits should continue sending trickles on the hour as before.. these will be ignored..

New workunits shouldn't send any..

Would it be better if we abort current WU's and get new work?

If I look at "my computers" how often will the credits update? I want to make sure all machines are working properly.

It was difficult getting my browsers tied in. I had to flush the DNS cache.

I notice I just lost a large pile of credit, was that supposed to happen?

IE: I had 55,707,711 credit 12 hours ago. I now have 42,480,559.

EDIT: Even though my account & boinc manager show the
lower amount the regular stats still show the old amount. http://dhep.ga/boinc/top_users.php

G'Day JugNut,

Have a look at the 1st post of this thread. Michael states that a one off credit adjustment is going to happen to bring things in line.

Hey Conan, it's been known for some time there was a change coming to credit scheme. It's just when I first noticed the change some people seemed to get a larger reduction than others. It's possible the changes were still filtering through when I first noticed them, although even now some peoples numbers don't add up. Don't get me wrong I was expecting a far greater reduction in credit so i'm certainly not complaining about that. Perhaps in the next day or so thing will settle in the correct order.
I was just trying to make sure everything went as planned as fairness across the board is far more important than any amount of credit.

Cheers

Yes, I've also noticed a drop of credits (about 4Mcred), and it is certainly connected to the server switch (connection problems) last night.
However I'm surprised that the credit adjustment was so small. I'd rather expected it to be an order of magnitude or so! :-)
I hope this adjustment is a preparation for a connection to the BoincStats - something we all longing for now - so I will definitely continue with this project for a while.

Since Sunday, all my WUs are certainly version 2.03, but now I see in the boinc event logs that "trickle up" messages are still being sent.
Should I maybe flush all the current WUs again now??

Nice crunching!!!

JugNut,

All of you near the top got a reasonably proportional adjustment, except for Peter who (consistently topping the accurate DHE rankings for two weeks) had over 168 cores which BOINC refused to benchmark and were being credited at the standard minimum rate.

Gunnar old WUs are fine. The trickles will simply be ignored. There are thousands of them in the pipeline so you'll see these going through for a while.

Kind regards,
Michael
