Reading the above posts I was under the impression that the return date had been extended to a year, so I aborted x64 tasks and then got back x88 tasks,. From your description of how the project works I'm assuming all CPU platforms return the same result..but is there a difference in the applications....will a 64 bit box with the same processing speed generate the same credits per hour as a 32 bit box?
eg 2.6gz 64 bit app gives same credit as 2.6gz 32 bit app?

The credits at :10 after hour dropped significantly after making the change...

I freely admit I am in it only for the credits and I could give a rats azz about the science but seeming as I have been doing this for longer than some new members may have been born, I suppose that there may be a few clinks in that argument..

I'm a bit hazy on the project goal but what I think what you are aiming to do is using something like the "infinite loop" of the old days to inject parameters into variable loops and to determine if, autonomously, there is a solution that will will be be self correcting ..something like the clock makers did a thousand years ago.

Watching results I'm wondering if its as simple as its taking a while for several different hosts being associated with my name to catch up..

The Win32 client is now available again (v2.07) and is now MUCH faster - ie. similar speed to the 64-bit client.

Hello Joe,

The 2.07 32-bit client will crunch at a simliar speed to the 64-bit client so all things being equal your credit rate should be the same.

A GA is a sort of infinite loop, just like - hopefully - the reproduction cycle of life in its ever adapting/improving process.

Kind regards,
Michael

My 32 bit xp box got some of the v2.07 but since the crash haven't got any. It connects every few minutes but always "no tasks sent" wondering if out of the V2.07? The server status page doesn't break out the individual versions so not sure...

Michael,

Can I request some updates on the standalone sub forum in case you work out on the client side. Not sure if the latest updates regards changes on the code itself or on the wrapper side for better control of boinc.

Thank you

Carlos

I haven't been able to get a new WU either since the 32 bit WUs were released again. Not sure what the problem is.

Hi Conan we are slowly re-releasing the 2.08 client which includes a fast 32-bit version. Reason it was rolled back was some grave system abnormalities which have now been identified as caused by an old logging library used within the server (yes sounds innocent but is used A LOT by all threads concurrently).

However we're still alert at any issues 2.08 may introduce before we roll out to win64 so would appreciate you notify us if you see any odd behaviour with it.

Kind regards,
Michael
